Today we live in a world filled with lewd visuals, lewd sounds, and lewd smells. To most of us, these things have become so normal that we don't even notice them. By daily living, we have become desensitized to the atrocities that govern us.
I am not just talking about the things we see on TV on a daily basis, or the things we hear on the radio, but in the very way we carry ourselves as we drudge through this chaotic existance. Our teenage girls are often times dressing like the hookers of previous generations. Our boys are covered in hideous piercings that make them appear cool?! Well at least they think so.
I believe that at some point and time being taught that being an individual and standing apart began to take on a different meaning than intended. I believe our society has been ruled by a secular power for many years now...maybe 30...maybe 40.
Once upon a time, women desired to be proper and well-mannered and were even schooled in proper etiquette. I'd be willing to bet that if you asked a group of teenaged girls today, they wouldn't even know what the words proper ettiquette means.
Do you not find this sad?
I believe that the violence in video games and music and movies has completely desensitized our younger generations.
Most young adults will not deny that the Holacaust was a sad affair, but many will be more able to justify human sacrifice than to abhor it. When told that over 1700 soldiers have died in this war, you cannot see a change in their eyes or facial features.
I don't know exactly why, but it seems we've lost compassion along with etiquette.
The thing that weighs on many teens' minds these days is sex. Am I sexy enough to attract another girl or a guy? (She wonders)
The way I see it, our American society is beginning to more and more resemble Sodom and Gomorrah!!!! I wonder how much longer our Father will sit idly by and allow us to continue to parade around in suits of pride and sin our lives away! Everyday I wonder, is this the day that His hand will come down in judgement to smite this nation as he did many times in the old testament. He did promise not to flood the world again, but He didn't promise swift judgement, at least not to my knowledge.
The fact is that there is a whole book in the bible dedicated to the time of His final judgement.
Reflect on the way you are living. How will you stand up before the Lord when that day comes?
Are you still able to avert your eyes?
Yeah...it's completely and totally unpopular to live righteously, to not join in and live a worldly life. It's not even easy to do so anymore. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that to completely rid yourself of everything worldly, it would be better to live in a cave, but that is almost as impossible as it is proposterous. But there is a way to discipline yourself.
Maybe if enough people started to truly live for the Lord again and shunned the filth and violent displays that are everywhere we turn, it could become the norm again....but that's just my own fantasy.
This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it! (from a little song I learned long ago)
How about you? There is still time!

Faust, I am still shaking my head, because it's like you copied my own words and used them in your comment. If that's something you truly stand behind then AMEN! to that (and freaky how much it sounds like me).
